Are you thinking about getting a large dog breed?
See Spot Walk was a lot of fun this weekend! We saw so many large dog breeds and we wanted to share a few of them. As we were walking around Julia Davis Park, we started testing our dog breed knowledge and were surprised to see so many different breeds.
Here are the LARGEST dog breeds: (many were at See Spot Walk)
Old English Mastiff
Bernese Mountain Dogs
If you are interested in bringing a big dog into your home it is important (like with all dogs) to do your research to make sure the breed will be a good fit for your family/home.
Large dogs do require daily exercise, grooming (depending on breed frequently varies), a fenced yard, love and attention. It is important to consider the space a large breed dog might need compared to a smaller dog. If you live in an apartment or in the city you might be limited on space which is important to consider when bringing a dog home.
Training is very important with any dog but extra important to teach your large breed dog good manners. It is a lot easier to reach the kitchen counter when you are a Great Dane compared to a tiny Pomeranian.
Some dog breeds are more likely to get certain diseases or issues. In many cases the cost of vet bills increase with the size of the animal along with the amount of food they will be consuming daily.
