We were reading Eatingwell’s March/April Edition 2014 and came across this great article on Pet Nutrition.
Did you know Produce is good for your Pet?
(Well certain produce listed below is good for them : ) and we also share the BAD ones). An average American family will spend about $70.00 per year on dog treats according to an article on How Much Does Owning A Pet Cost Per Year? from data from the American Pet Products Association Survey. If you are trying to save money or want a healthier alternative these Healthy Treats should be noted. In the past year, we have heard of a lot of Pet Food recalls and this is just another option to try and keep your pets healthier and happier longer.
Cats love Zucchini because of the moist crunch to it. Our bunny Lulu loves strawberries but doesn’t care for Carrots. Every pet will have different preferences. Try giving your dogs a few things from this list and see what they enjoy. Godiva and Penny love Carrots!
Penny loves them so much she dug them UP FROM the ground in OUR GARDEN last year! I forgot about an area I had planted and well she got extra treats that day.
Green Bell Peppers
(Just make sure to give them these treats in moderation)
TOXIC Produce for Pets:
Grapes, Raisins, Garlic, Onion, Avocado, Fruit with a Pits or Seeds and Chocolate
( My Best Friend has a little Maltese named Meeko. As a puppy he got a hold of an Avocado because they had a tree in the backyard and it caused serious neurological damages. He needed hundreds of dollars of Veterinary care and suffered greats. Keep your animals safe and do your research before you get a dog.)
