Is your sweet dog getting older?
Are you noticing they aren’t moving as quickly these days?
Most importantly your older dog needs love, attention and patience. Make sure your dog visits a veterinarian regularly to help maintain regular check ups. Your vet will be able to with pain or other medical conditions your older dog might encounter.
1.) Steps or Ramps- Your pet might not be able to Jump like they before. You might consider purchasing steps or ramps to get onto the bed, sofa or into the car. We our first dog Betty started aging my father built a ramp for her to get in and out of the dog door. Her joints weren’t as strong as before so it helped her get up and down the steps.
2.)Super Soft Beds– As dogs get older they might need more padding when laying down. We have seen Orthopedic beds with memory foam to help with the comfort of aging or aching dogs.
3.) Stock Up on Cleaning Supplies– Your older pup might not be able to control their bladder like before so make sure you have extra cleaning supplies.
4.) Whole Body Harness or Back Harness– to help reduce stress during lifting or when walking with hip dysplasia (common in larger breeds), arthritis and fatigue.
5.) Check Your Older Dogs Dog for Lumps- When you give your pup TLC make sure to keep an eye out for lumps and bumps. Always contact your veterinarian for medical advice.
6.) Consider Diet– Your dog might need a special diet with age.
It is important to watch your older dog for any health signs. Give them a lot of LOVE!
