Pet Sitting Company Eagle Royal Pet Care LLC Shares Tips on Keeping Your Bunny Healthy
It is always important to have fresh water, food and a liter tray for your bunny. These are tips to keep them happy and healthy.
1.) Always have a lot of Toys available for your Rabbit- Our Lulu loves to play with a toy carrot along with a hanging chew toy.
Toy Ideas- Paper Towel Rolls with Hay/Herbs Inside
- Cereal Box with treats Inside
- Hide Treats in their Hay
-Hang Fruit/Treats in different places in their Cage
- Brown Lunch Bag with Hay Inside
- Edible Tunnel (Lulu loves her tunnels and eats the entire thing) They are made of hay and honey.
-Apple or Willow Sticks
2.) Spend Time with your Bunny- If you only have one make sure you let him/her out of their cage daily and that they get held daily
3.) Brush and Keep Their Nails Trim- Bunnies like to be clean so brush them and make sure to cut their nails. Our Lulu lets us clip her nails without a fuss. We put her on her back and she doesn’t move while we cut her nails.
4.)Space- Bunny loves to hop, jump and run around! Make sure you have a big enough space for your rabbit. We have a bunny duplex for our girl. It is two levels and she loves running up and down the rams, moving things around and tossing things across the home.
5.) Hay, Hay, Hay- Rabbits should eat 80% of their diet in Hay/grass. We see many times people feed more pellets (which is good in smaller amounts) but Hay is their main food source. Make sure either hay is fresh, clean and not moldy. Put Hay in their liter box as they love to sit and eat.
*Dry Food should be given in a small amount (egg shell size for a small/medium rabbit)
If you are going out of town we would love to spending time with your bunny!
